the reality of Politics

Harry Reid resign?

OK, should Harry Reid resign? I think that if both sides want to play fair and judge comments made as opposed to who made them, then yes he should be forced to resign. Will this happen? Yeah right! Oh well it was a nice thought while it lasted.

I see this as the usual double standard politics we have in this Country. Yes this goes both ways as well it is not only a democrat thing the republicans do the same stuff. This is just the way politics works and one of the many reasons I see a need for change in our system.

I like this idea of a third party. I have always liked this and though we need more than two major views in our system. I like that we may get a third party soon from the looks of things happening in our system now. I do not like to think of Sarah Palin leading this party though. That however is another story.

A few things that annoyed me in past decade.

Well everybody is talking about lists from the past year and decade so I will tell you a few things that annoyed me in the past decade. There is no order to these things they are just all annoying things to me.

  • Bailing out banks and companies that should have been left to either survive or die. After all that is capitalism is it not. Along with this is hearing people try to explain why some of this needed to be done. There is no explanation for this at all, just should not have been done.
  • Being attacked by terrorists. This was probably about the most annoying thing that happened this decade for me. I know I said there is no order to this and that stands, it is just that this really did annoy me. I was living overseas when this happened and had to travel back stateside a few months later. That trip was extremely annoying.

I think I must look like a terrorist as I was checked, extra checked and double checked at every point of this journey. Let me tell you going through this with a near one year old that just learned to walk and run is real annoying. For some reason the security had no interest in the security of my child but seemed to enjoy telling me I could not go after her myself that I must stand still while my child runs off and out of sight. They knew it was only her and I.

  • Invading foreign countries. While there seems to be some strong arguments as to why we should have gone into Afghanistan I still see no reason we should ever have entered Iraq. Needless to say we are still in both countries with no exit in sight.
  • Not being elected President in 2000. To think I could have served my time and been retired with a pension by now.
  • Any moment in time I ever had the misfortune of hearing the voice of either Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. These two guys are some of the most annoying people I have ever heard.
  • Any moment in time I ever had the misfortune of hearing the voice of Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank. These guys are like the anti Hannity and anti Limbaugh and just as annoying.

OK that is not all that annoyed me, but I do not have time to write more at the moment. Maybe I will add to this later as there really was so much more that was annoying in the past ten years. Hopefully things will get better and less annoying in the next ten, but I am not sure.

Happy New Year and decade to all!

Hannity is delusional

After hearing Shawn Hannity last night discussing his very one sided view of the Presidents address about troops to Afghanistan, my conclusion is that he is delusional. Yes I know his name is not spelled Shawn, but I will only give him the same respect he gives to those he does not like, none. I really do believe him to be delusional and that is all I have to say about this. Just my opinion and who really cares about that anyway?

Sarah Palin

I heard some of the interview and comments from guests on the O’Reilly Factor the other night. Of all that I heard one thing struck me as being part of the problem of our entire political system. When one of the liberal guests stated that they wondered if she is committed because she walked away from being Governor. Mr O’Reilly said he could understand this as she has to make money.

That to me sums up the majority of problems in our current political state, it is all about money. It is not about money for our Country. It is not about money for our States. It is all about money for ourselves and our friends. I feel that there are few in office that are truly concerned with the big picture of the Country, but much more concerned with the big outcome of their futures.

Mrs Palin stated that she left what would have been her lame duck session or something of the sorts, but I say so what. If the job were not prestigious enough or did not make enough money for her, then she should not have taken it in the first place. Just my opinion.

A few thoughts

While listening to the O’Reilly Factor the other night Mr O’Reilly was speaking with Karl Rove. I cannot remember the exact topic of discussion but a question was asked of Mr Rove as to why he thinks that President Obama would continue to push for things that may seem to be unpopular with many in our Country. A comparison was made to President Bush pushing and continuing in the war with Iraq and why did he do so even when it was not popular.

Mr Rove said that President Bush did what he believed was right for our Country, but yet seemed unsure why President Obama would do what he is doing. Has it not occurred to Mr Rove that just maybe President Obama is doing what he believes is right for our Country as well. While I understand that Mr Rove probably does not agree with what is happening, I would hope that he could understand the reasons as to why.

Carrie Prejean

OK, here are my thoughts on Carrie Prejean. She is a fraud. I think that she is just riding the “I’m a Conservative” train for all it is worth. If she is truly a conservative she must be a recent convert. Look at her past before the gay guy question and she does not look all that conservative. Oh well it looks like she found her way into the spotlight which is what she probably wanted and is riding it for all it is worth.

As far as I am concerned she is really nobody of importance, not unlike myself, she is just looking to make as much from this as she can. I really can’t blame her as this is the American way. I hope that people get tired of hearing her say nothing of importance soon, because I know I am tired of hearing her sound like a talking Barbie that needs new batteries.

Economy

Just a few quick thoughts on the economy. Is it better than it was a short while ago? Yes I think it is. Is it going to start booming soon with lots of new jobs? No I do not think it will. Is the good that is happening all to be credited to the Stimulus? No I do not think so. Is all that is bad to be blamed on our former President? No I do not think so. Can it all be blamed on our current President? No I do not think so.

I wish I had spent a little more time listening to my teacher in 1981 when I was taking an economics class. If I had, I might have a better understanding now of some of this crazy stuff all of the large headed people are spouting about. I do have a little understanding though as I have lived and worked in our economy for the past three decades.

Our economy in my opinion is on the path that our leaders and corporations have put it on over the past several decades. In my life I have seen our economy stumble and prosper. It just seems to be the way it is. My personal thoughts are that until we can create jobs that pay well in our own Country, it will just continue as it has. It will go up, it will go down. If we do not stop the loss of good paying  jobs in this country it will sooner or later go down until it is gone.

Health care

Just want to give you my opinion on reform and health care. Yes I do believe our system of health care is in need of serious reform. However I do not believe that this bill that I have been looking at should be it. What the hell is in this thing anyway? Can anybody make sense of this? I know that for me to try to understand what has been written in here it would probably take a year or two. I think it would take a month to just read it. In my opinion this is not reform this is bureaucracy.

I do not understand how any elected official could possibly think that this is how things should be done. Anybody that would vote to put this into law without having at least 3 months to have a team of specialists go over this and see just what it says should be removed from office. I do not believe that any of these people have the super reading and comprehension skills needed to read and understand this crap in any time short of a month.

I guess though that this is why our country is the way it is now anyway as this is the process for making laws. This tells me we need some serious reform in a lot more areas as well as health care. I think we should reform Congress.

Oh well that’s just what I think and who am I anyway?

More on Rush

rush

I guess Mr Limbaugh may not have checked facts enough lately. I have not heard the whole story but I guess he ran with a fake thesis that was supposed to be the work of President Obama. From what I have read he decided to issue a no apology because he thought it seemed right for the Presidents work. In other words Rush thinks this is what the President thinks.

This is where I think that the labeling of Mr Limbaugh as a racist should then be OK as well because to me it seems like it would be right for him. In other words I think that is they way Rush thinks. Now I do not know for sure that he is a racist, but I do know for sure that many people that follow him are.

Where I work there are close to a hundred people working and many listen to Rush on a regular basis. Of the 20 or so that I do know listen to Rush, I would have to say I would classify 15 of them as racists based on the way they speak when they think nobody that would care is listening. I am a person that would look like I do not care and have got to here many conversations from people speaking about what Rush says and using the \”N\” word frequently. Many times this word is used in regards to our President.

I am sure that this probably does not bother Mr Limbaugh very much, but it does bother me. This is why in my opinion Rush Limbaugh may or may not be racist himself, but he seems to promote racism in the way he speaks. This may be intentional, or maybe is is not, but either way in my opinion it would seem to be enough for many to label him as racist.

Oh well this is just my opinion and who am I anyway.

Rush

I do not really know much about Rush Limbaugh. This probably stems from the fact that I cannot stand to listen to him for more than a minute or so at a time. Anyway I do not see what the big deal with not being able to move forward with trying to be a part owner of a team in the NFL is. From my understanding of what Mr Limbaugh preaches is, he should understand this is business.

I thought that is what he preaches he believes in. I could be wrong as I said I do not listen to his rants. In this capitalist society we live in, I see the decision that was made as a business decision. I would think that this should be good for Rush as it shows that the free market is still free. The group with which he was associated with exercised their freewill and freedom of choice to exclude him from the group.

End of story.
