Just a few quick thoughts on the economy. Is it better than it was a short while ago? Yes I think it is. Is it going to start booming soon with lots of new jobs? No I do not think it will. Is the good that is happening all to be credited to the Stimulus? No I do not think so. Is all that is bad to be blamed on our former President? No I do not think so. Can it all be blamed on our current President? No I do not think so.
I wish I had spent a little more time listening to my teacher in 1981 when I was taking an economics class. If I had, I might have a better understanding now of some of this crazy stuff all of the large headed people are spouting about. I do have a little understanding though as I have lived and worked in our economy for the past three decades.
Our economy in my opinion is on the path that our leaders and corporations have put it on over the past several decades. In my life I have seen our economy stumble and prosper. It just seems to be the way it is. My personal thoughts are that until we can create jobs that pay well in our own Country, it will just continue as it has. It will go up, it will go down. If we do not stop the loss of good paying jobs in this country it will sooner or later go down until it is gone.
Well here we go getting ready to pump money into our economy. Where it really goes does anybody really know? Better yet does anybody really care? I know that I really do not care that much as I know that it is not coming my way.
The right side of my body thinks that we should just give a bunch of tax cuts to people that already have more money than I can really imagine. It tells me to trust that these people will use these savings wisely to make even larger amounts of money for themselves, and as a byproduct create a few more low paying jobs for people like myself. It tells me that this is capitalism and just the way our country works.
The left side of my body tells me we should invest this money into projects and create jobs that in the long run will not last much longer than the project. We should create more government agencies to oversee how we do things and what we do with our money. This will create new jobs for friends and family members of those already involved with the government. It tells me that the government knows best and to let it work its course and all will be OK.
Me in the middle seems to think I would rather not listen to either side and just let the chips fall where they may. I know the left and right side of me think this is stupid and the worst possible thing. I however think that the big guys can and should take the fall just as I have. I have made some bad choices with my finances and now I can no longer keep up with things. Oh well that is my problem and I will go on and I will deal with it. I really do not have much choice in the matter.
My situation has forced me to look for new options, new ways of doing things. I have tried a few and a few have worked and few have not. I think the large corporations should just deal with it like I have to. I see no reason they should get to save their ass when nobody wants to save mine. Of course the left and right sides of me still think this is just stupid.
The middle of me thinks that if the big corporations fall and small ones to, so what. There will be smaller companies and people with new ideas to pick up the pieces and start new companies and fill the gaps. This will probably change the landscape of our country and money will shift from people who have it now to people who don\’t. Some will stay with those who already have it. Either way life will go on no matter if we like the way it goes or not.
OK, the bailout is not bailing out the people. I never thought it would anyway but just what is happening here? Paulson can\\\’t seem to figure out what needs to be done, but this comes as no surprise to me. The only thing I think is happening here is some big people are getting to stay big while all of us little people get to shrink a little more.
I think it would work as well to just take the $700 billion, load it into a bunch of planes and start dropping it out all over the country. Yeah I know this is a stupid idea but I do feel it would work as well as anything the big brains in Washington will be able to come up with. Why not spread it around to the nations poorest and try to trickle up for once. The trickle down crap sure does not work for the average person.
